Founder | Art Psychotherapist | EMDR Therapist

📍 Based in North East England

Melisa is a HCPC-registered Art Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist with experience across education, public, and private practice

She has worked in adult and child services, supporting people through trauma, identity challenges, and life transitions especially where experiences haven’t fit neatly into diagnostic frameworks.

She founded Phases in 2025 to create a practice that could hold emotional complexity with care where therapy isn’t about fitting into boxes, but about creating space for stories to unfold.

In addition to client work, she offers clinical supervision, reflective spaces, and training for other professionals.

Modalities: Art Psychotherapy, EMDR, somatic awareness

Focus areas: Trauma recovery, relational work, creative processing, life transitions, supervision

Nicole Lenihan (she/her)

Art Psychotherapist | IFS Informed

📍 Based in Hurstpierpoint, Mid Sussex

She offers a safe and supportive space where clients can feel seen, heard, and understood — wherever they are in their journey.

With nine years of experience across the third, private, and public sectors, she has supported individuals experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, PTSD, complex trauma, attachment difficulties, neurodivergence, and challenges around gender, sexuality, and identity.

Her approach integrates Art Psychotherapy with Internal Family Systems (IFS), helping clients explore and understand the different parts of themselves — including those that carry anxiety, self-doubt, or past pain. She recognises that these parts often develop to protect us, yet can sometimes make daily life or relationships more difficult. Through creative expression, clients are invited to explore these parts’ fears, behaviours, and intentions, fostering insight and greater self-compassion. No artistic skill is needed — the focus is on expression and understanding, not artistic ability.

She believes deeply in each person’s capacity for healing and growth. With warmth, curiosity, and compassion, her aim is to help clients reconnect with their inner strengths, reduce anxiety, and create meaningful, lasting change in their lives

Modalities: Art Psychotherapy, IFS, sensorimotor clayfield technique

Focus areas: Anxiety, trauma, relational work, creative processing, life transitions
