Support for Services

Clinical Supervision for Art Therapists

Clinical supervision provides a dedicated space for practitioners to reflect on their work, strengthen clinical thinking, and maintain safe and ethical practice. It is not only about accountability, but also about professional growth and support. Supervision helps therapists and practitioners explore the impact of their work, develop confidence in their approach, and deepen their understanding of the people they work with.

Supervision is collaborative and reflective. Alongside verbal discussion, art therapy supervision may also include creative processes such as image-making, which can offer fresh perspectives, highlight unconscious dynamics, and create space to process the emotional impact of the work. Together we consider both the clinical and personal dimensions of practice, recognising the importance of professional boundaries as well as practitioner wellbeing.

This space allows for challenge, encouragement, and learning, with the aim of sustaining high-quality, ethical, and compassionate care while supporting practitioners to remain resourced, creative, and effective in their work.

Team Reflective Practice

Team reflective practice offers groups a safe and supportive space to step back from the demands of their work. It creates an opportunity to think together about the emotional impact of the work, patterns within the team, and the challenges of the wider system.

Through guided reflection, teams can explore what is working well, where tensions or difficulties may lie, and how to draw on their collective strengths. This process not only supports staff wellbeing, but also enhances collaboration, resilience, and the quality of care provided to those they support.

Reflective practice at Phases is facilitated with care and sensitivity, encouraging openness, respect, and constructive dialogue. The aim is to create a space that holds complexity without judgement, where teams can think more clearly and work more effectively together.
